Examples of disputes the Financial Arbitrator is authorised to address:
I was mugged and robbed of my handbag that had my debit card in it among other items. I reported the facts immediately both to the institution and Czech Police. As a direct banking user, I got information that someone recharged his mobile phone credit by using an ATM, at the total amount of CZK 10 000. The institution has turned down my complaint without giving a good reason.
I was stolen my debit card and it was subsequently abused at eleven payments made with various vendors. The institution declined to return the funds to me, although false signatures were used in the receipts for the purchases.
I learned from my account statement that my debit card was used to draw CZK 23 000 in total from an ATM, although I have got the card PIN at home, still in its original sealed envelope.
I learned from my account statement that the institution failed to make a payment order - payment for goods. Because of the unsettled invoice, the supplier began to bill us late charges. The institution admitted its error but has declined to compensate us for the billed late charges.
On 17 January, I deposited CZK 15 000 over the counter with the institution, credited to my account kept with the same bank. I then learned from the account statement that the above amount was actually credited to my account as late as on 4 February, I complained about it with the institution immediately but the institution failed to give any fair reasons why the delay occurred.
The institution erroneously charged me for the insurance of the credit card for February through April although I applied in writing for the insurance to be terminated as of 1 February. The institution has provided no response to my complaint.
